Location, location! Excellent location! Overall the staff were courteous yet friendly and anticipates your needs.
The room I had was the one right after the elevators, though muted, I can still hear the elevator moving up and down.

Not as impressive as everyone thinks
I have heard much about Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur (MO KL). Everybody perceives it as one of the top-of-the-class hotels, not only in KL but around the world. There came a chance to indulge myself with the luxury of MO KL for a one-night stay. I booked a king room with a Twin Tower view. In general, I am pleased with the hotel and the service. Love the MO Sandwich at the Bar. Really tasty and original. One waitress was serving with her utmost politeness and good manner. (Sorry, I didn't ask for her name, but she is, I guess, Chinese). The location cannot be better. It is just next to the Twin Towers. Those wanting to be close to them, this is a very good choice. Stepping out of the hotel, you are a few minutes away from the Towers (literally just around the corner). Convenient for shopping too. The entrance of KLCC Suria Parkson is located just next to the MO KL.
There was another waitress at the bar, higher ranking I think. She had such a sour-face, that one would not dare to interact, let alone staying close, without a staff in the hand for protection!! (I don't want to be racist here, just for the sake of identifying who is who, since I don't know their names, I think the sour-faced waitress was a non-Chinese). From the outside, MO KL is just a mere skyscraper, one of many in KL. As you step in, it give you a sumptuous and extravagant impression. On closer look, however, you can see a lack of harmony in style. Too many good things packed together gives me the impression of someone having loads of money, but has no taste and doesn't know how to match them. (I often use Versace as the icon of tasteless extravagance - so MO KL can be seen as the Versace in hoteling). However, for those who wants to enjoy the Twin Towers from the room, beware that the night view is time limited. The illumination of the Twin Towers is switched off after 10pm. This is an important factor to consider, when you want to weigh the value-for-money ratio for the room you pay, because you have to pay extra for such a view. I paid a premium for such a room. Unfortunately, I arrived at the hotel quite late at 8:30pm. I went out hurriedly to KLCC Suria to buy some souvenirs, before shops were closed. Then I took a stroll around the Twin Towers and took some pictures. After coming back to my room, I was thinking of enjoying the view, sitting by the big window. I even thought of leaving the curtains drawn for the rest of the night while sleeping. Much to my dismay, the illumination was off. It is not the fault of MO KL, of course. But personally I don't think the extra premium is justified, especially so, when you are staying only for one night with late arrival. It would have been a different story, if I arrived earlier in the afternoon. This is a lesson I learnt for myself.

Overall very good. Great location and a good looking hotel.
The public areas in the hotel are stunning, look very nice and the location is very good.
The room needs updating. There was not much artwork, it felt boring. The bathroom is very old luxury - could do with updating too.

Very good location, good food and entertainment, good staff...
Very good location, good food and entertainment, good staff overall with some exceptions. It was my birthday and they make surprise, flowers and cake in my room.
The valets and the entrance staff were not ok. They take my luggage and waited to give them some money, tips. I didn't, because I didn't know how it works and they are that many. And they make me feel bad, embarrassed. I really didn't enjoyed their behavior.

The breakfasts were excellent with the best variety that I have ever experienced. The staff were very friendly and the concierge desk could really have not been more helpful. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel and I shall certainly use it myself if I return to KL. I also enjoyed the spa facilities and a light lunch taken by the pool ticked all the boxes.

Beautiful pool area. Superb location right next to (and with views onto) the towers. Complimentary chocolates and soft drinks in the room. On checking in I was given free access to the hotel's Executive Lounge on the 24th floor, again with great views of downtown and the towers, plus good food and drink available all day. Nice! Thanks to Akiko for that one.
